Third running of the Knowstone Hobby Horse race night

A Hobby Horse race night was held at the Parish Hall on Saturday 21st October. Despite the wet and wild weather, jockeys, owners and punters alike turned out to support the event. The official adjudicator was Ken Dykes who also bred ("made") the Hobby Horses and commentary was provided by Anthony Vigus.

Six competitive races ensued, each sponsored by a local business.

The seventh race comprised of the losers from each of the previous races and the jockeys were auctioned off to 'willing' owners. A slow but steady race followed with Ken Dykes coming out on top as the best of the worst! A very well fought winners race then followed with all the winning jockeys from each of the races being auctioned off for high prices. Female jockey Nancy Tapia was heavily backed after an amazing performance in her race but double winner Aaron Lansberry stormed through to make it three wins in three races and to take the Champion of Champions crown. £500 was made for Parish Hall funds.
