Exe Valley Community Bus committee appeals for new drivers

The Community Bus is a registered bus service that runs every Thursday morning from Oakford, calling at Roachill, East Knowstone & Knowstone.

The bus then runs to South Molton and Barnstaple on alternate weeks. 

Fares are very reasonable, however, passengers with a bus pass travel FREE.

Currently there is a team of five drivers based in and around Knowstone who are all volunteers. They ensure that the service runs every week. With a team of five this means that the drivers give a half day's service approximately every four or five weeks.

WE HAVE AN URGENT NEED FOR A FEW MORE VOLUNTEER DRIVERS. 

TWO OR THREE ADDITIONAL DRIVERS WOULD ENSURE THAT THE SERVICE CONTINUES AND WOULD SPREAD THE INDIVIDUAL DRIVING COMMITMENT ACROSS SIX OR MAYBE SEVEN WEEKS.

CAN YOU HELP?

Required

(i)    Suitable driving licence (category D/D1 needed)

(ii)    Available for a half day on a Thursday e.g. Bus leaves Oakford 09.30 and returns to Oakford approximately 12.30 (South Molton Run), or 13.00 (Barnstaple Run).

(iii)    Commitment – occasional or back up availability would be very welcome, however, with a rota based on 7 drivers, a personal rota commitment would approximate to one half day every six or seven weeks or so (or longer intervals with more drivers).
